An Unusual Presentation of Vestibular schwannoma: Lateralization Finding as Paresthesia on the Contralateral Left Forearm.

Background: Vestibular schwannoma is a benign neoplasm and the most common lesion of the cerebellopontine angle. The presenting symptom is mostly asymmetrical high-frequency sensorineural hearing loss, while other symptoms include headache, tinnitus, vertigo, balance problems, facial numbness, and facial nerve paralysis. Symptoms related to hydrocephalus include gait disturbance, papilledema, urinary incontinence, cognitive impairment/memory loss, and headache.
Case Presentation: A 26-year-old female with recurrent facial paralysis and paresthesia of the left arm was presented in this report. The audiological examination was normal and symmetrical for both ears. Contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) demonstrated a right cerebellopontine angle tumor with mild hydrocephalus and compression on the brainstem, consistent with vestibular schwannoma. Paresthesia on the contralateral side as a lateralization sign of the brain has not been reported.
Conclusion: Vestibular schwannoma cases with extra-meatal growth may present with atypical symptoms, and detailed questioning of neurological symptoms may be recommended.
